Biography
Keir Davis is a Mississippi-based contemporary visual artist and educator whose work encompasses painting, drawing, portraiture, figure studies, printmaking, and mixed media. His practice moves between careful observation and intuitive experimentation, combining technical draftsmanship with expressive color, gesture, texture, and layered material processes.
Davis earned a Master of Arts in Art Education from the University of Florida, where his graduate study examined creativity, mixed-media practice, curriculum development, visual culture, research, and contemporary approaches to teaching art. His capstone project, Responding to Creativity Through Mixed Media, explored how material experimentation and reflective practice can support creative development.
He also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching and a bachelor’s degree with an art concentration from Delta State University. His academic preparation is complemented by years of experience teaching visual art at the secondary level, where he has designed learning experiences in drawing, painting, mixed media, visual literacy, art history, and creative inquiry.
Throughout his career, Davis has maintained an active studio practice. His body of work includes observational drawings, expressive portraits, abstract paintings, figurative compositions, print-based experiments, and layered mixed-media surfaces. This range reflects his interest in allowing ideas and materials to determine the most appropriate visual language for each work.
